FAQ

What type of photography do you do?

I specialize in natural-light, lifestyle branding maternity, newborn and family photography.

What is your approach?

My approach is simple and honest. No unnatural posing or props. Just you and your family, photographed in the moment as you are, in a way that you will cherish forever. During your session you don’t need to worry about posing at all, I help you 100% of the time to achieve both candid natural looks (with posing prompts) as well as traditional poses.

How far in advance do we need to book?

I recommend planning your session at least 1-2 months in advance and reaching out for availability. This way you can ensure that you can get the date of your choice and you have enough time to plan your ideal location and outfit. This is especially important if you are looking for a maternity and newborn shoot as those sessions are time sensitive and need to be scheduled in a small window of time.

Where are you based? And Do you travel?

I am based out of Vaughan Ontario and I travel all over the GTA including Toronto, Scarborough, Newmarket, Aurora, North York, Vaughan, Mississauga, and Etobicoke.

Do you photograph outdoors, in clients homes and in studios?

Answer is yes to all. I love outdoor photography especially when we have a beautiful scenic background (which I can help pick out). At home sessions are also fantastic for a family and newborn type of shoot. And studio sessions are phenomenal all year round and will give you consistent beautiful results no matter what season and weather is outside.

Which studios do you photograph at?

Few of my favorite Toronto Studios include Icon Studio Space, Mint Room and Preto Loft. They are considered the best in the GTA as they offer stellar modern real set ups and décor, versatile studio spaces with many different looks and sides for each, best seasonal set up and my favorite – best natural lighting. If you are looking for a stunning indoor session, one of these studios will give you everything you are looking for and more.

What packages do you have?

Depending on your type of session I offer year round studio and outdoor 20 minute mini sessions, Full 1 hour and extended 1.5-2 hour studio/outdoor/home sessions.

Should I choose Mini Session or Full 1 Hour Session?

- Minis are 20 minutes long and are designed to give you a short and sweet photography experience. They are ideal when you are looking for a handful of photos and not need a great variety of poses and looks. This is especially handy if you need new shots for your branding or social media or if you know that your children cannot last a whole hour. Minis are designed to capture all of the standard poses and looks and if the time allows will permit for a few additional creative images based on your preference.
- Full 1 hour session is always my recommendation for majority types of sessions including newborn, maternity and family. First of all, you have more time for comfort and preparation especially when you have a newborn baby and need all the extra time for diaper changes, top up feeds and cuddles. With young children 1 hour is also recommended as the majority of kids need extra time to warm up to an unknown new environment and people. When your child will feel comfortable, that’s when magic will happen and you will get the most genuine and natural captures. You feel more relaxed during a longer session as you will not feel as rushed. We will spend more time polishing traditional looks and will have time for all of the candid emotional shots. Finally a longer session opens up opportunities for a wider range of poses, outfit changes and focus on the details and close up shots.

How do I book a session?

- Mini sessions can be booked online anytime and booking link can be located through my “Services” Page.
- If you are looking for a 1 hour or longer studio, at home or outdoor session, simply contact me and let me know what type you prefer (studio/home/outdoor), if you have a location and date in mind and if this is for a branding, maternity, newborn or family type of session. Based on your preferences I will provide you with few different options. Once we establish all above details, I will set up and share a link for quick and easy online booking of your session. Full payment is required at the time of your booking to secure your spot and a confirmation with further details and style guide will be shared upon completion of your booking.

What is your turnaround time for final images after a session?

My turnaround is upto 7 days for all of my sessions. Within 7 days after your session, you will receive all best pre-edited images for review and selection. Once you select your favourite photos, your final selection will be delivered electronically to you the same day.

How many images will I receive?

This will depend on the type of package that you have selected:
- “Mini Sessions” package includes 12 edited images of your choice
- “Full 1 hour Session” package includes between 25-30 images
- “Extended 1.5-2 hour Session” - all best edited images (75+)
Feel free to check “Services” Page for more details on each package and what it includes.

What is the best timing to schedule a Maternity Session?

The best time to book your maternity session is when you are between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy. This will vary slightly depending if this is your first pregnancy (32-36 weeks is best) and if this is your consecutive pregnancy (28-32 weeks). These recommendations are based on your belly size and comfort level. During this time your belly is beautifully rounded making it the best time to capture your pregnancy glow.

What package would you recommend for a newborn session?

You can select from a 1-1.5 hour studio or 1.5-2 hour at home session. Check my “Services” Page for more details on Newborn Packages. Ideally a 1.5 hour session would be the best as you want to give yourself more time for all of the diaper changes, feed, and to comfort your baby to achieve the most natural and genuine results. The best results are when the parents and baby are calm and relaxed and that comes typically with a longer session.

What should we wear for our session?

Wearing comfortable clothes that fit you well is always a number one recommendation. Choose your style that reflects your personality and preference and ensure that style coordinates well across your entire family. For my photographing and editing style, I always recommend opting in for light natural colours and stirring away from dark, matchy match looks. When you book your session with me rest assured that you will receive my style guide that will include all information needed to create your ideal looks and outfits for your session.

Do you include outfits for your newborn and maternity sessions?

Outfits are not included for any of my sessions but I provide a complete style guide with Pinterest Moodboard so that you know exactly what styles and looks will work for your type of session. I do provide props by request including: newborn shoes for maternity detail shots, and baby bassinet, muslin blankets, plush toys etc. for newborn session.

Do you help with posing during the session?

I will pose you 100% during your session and you will have a beautiful balanced gallery of both traditional and lifestyle photographs. For posed looks, I tend to demonstrate myself how to sit, where to place hands and feet, and how to make a group of family look and feel “connected”. For lifestyle types of shots, I have many prompts that I will ask you to “re-enact” to get the most natural and genuine interactions and shots. *Bonus - everywhere in between your candid and posed looks I will be fixing your hair, your hand and feet placements and will give you continuous feedback and guidance to ensure that your poses look polished.

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

Posing is somewhat unnatural for the majority of people, and I understand you completely. My goal is to get you to have the most comfortable and easy experience and I have tips and tricks that will help you get comfortable and natural in front of the camera. This includes positive feedback during your session, showing the back of the camera so that you can see how beautiful and natural you look and many more.

What if my kids are not cooperating during the session?

Being a mother of three, and having to work with children for over 10 years, there are very few behaviors that can throw me off. During your session, I will provide your kids with fun activities and assignments that will result in beautiful natural captures. When your kids feel more comfortable and calm during the session, this would be the time for more posed captures including family portraits. All I ask of You is to remain calm, praise your kids and focus on the fun aspect of the session and let the rest unfold naturally. Sessions with kids, especially younger ones, typically run on kids' terms and we simply need to go with the flow and make the best out of them.

What if it rains on the day of the scheduled outdoor session?

Weather can be unpredictable especially during Spring and Fall. If the weather conditions are not suitable for your outdoor session, we will reschedule it to a different date that will work for both of us. Back up dates are typically determined before your session is booked so that you both of us can leave a bit of wiggle room in our schedule.

Are pets welcome during the session?

Absolutely. I am a huge animal lover so no worries. For outdoor sessions we simply need to keep our location in mind as some trails and parks do not allow dogs. For studio sessions, most studios can accommodate pets for an additional small fee.
